So as I sit reading my emails, and working on my morning deal blog, I read an article (a few years ago) about how “it’s time for adult to stop giving Christmas gifts.” (Ive included the link at the end of this post.) Frankly, I’m what you would call a “greedy giver”; I love to shop, rather “hunt” for those ‘just right’ gifts for people; the things they really love. Perhaps something to make them laugh so hard they pee a little? The things the can’t get for themselves, or won’t get for themselves for one dumb reason or another, but mostly the things they always wanted but never received… I really want to bring tears to their eyes ; in a good way, of course. I love the hunt of finding that perfect gift- I put a lot of thought into it and love that I do.
One year I got my daughter’s grandmother a music box, she had always wanted one. She had to leave the room to gather herself together , and grab a tissue. Score one for me! Did I forget to mention I’m awesome at guessing whats in my own gifts? I think she had gotten me a deep fryer or something along those lines, I had really wanted one, and I knew it was in there for the moment I picked up the box. Every Christmas eve, we go to church and then to my brother in laws house. We bought gifts, this year, we’re taking homemade. It’ will be a quite Christmas morning, this year, but next year I’ll have all the pomp and circumstance when I get to decorate the big house!. (Finally)
My girls are pretty easy to shop for, I know what they are into, and for the most part, they are easy to please. This year, my oldest isn’t around, so even though I have things in the closet, I won’t be wrapping them, but that’s another story for another day… I dropped gifts into the mail for the 3 grands back east, and the one daughter, who is also back east.. Hubby can be a tad tricky. One year I got him every Simpson’s dvd I could find, and another year I made him a jean quilt, because he’d been talking about one he had as a child. He says his favorite is the Sherpa line jean jacked I got him a couple years ago. ( I really think the favorite is the jean quilt) This year, I am struggling hard, I got some things he will use, and even though I still feel like I’m not hitting the mark, he never complains… ❤ I also wrote him a song,.. yea one of those AI things, but this year it just felt right. He’s a hard worker, and never gives up, but I think he needs to “hear” it.
Speaking of shopping, I better get back to the deal blog, because I have deals to post, and I’ve already started shopping for next year! Too early? well then you apparently haven’t been following my blog.
