Is it time to stop Christmas shopping for adults?

So as I sit reading my emails, and working on my morning deal blog, I’m reading an article about how “it’s time for adult to stop giving Christmas gifts.” (Ive included the link at the end of this post.) Frankly, I’m what you would call a “greedy giver”; I love to shop, rather “hunt” for those ‘just right’ gifts for people; the things they really love- my bestie, has an obsession for sharks. Perhaps something to make them laugh so hard they pee a little? The things the can’t get for themselves, or won’t get for themselves for one dumb reason or another, but mostly the things they always wanted but never received… I really want to bring tears to their eyes ; in a good way, of course. I love the hunt of finding that perfect gift- I put a lot of thought into it and love that I do.

One year I got my daughter’s grandmother a music box, she had always wanted one. She had to leave the room to gather herself together , and grab a tissue. Score one for me! Did I forget to mention I’m awesome at guessing whats in my own gifts? I think she had gotten me a deep fryer or something along those lines, I had really wanted one, and I knew it was in there for the moment I picked up the box. Every Christmas eve, we go to church and then to my brother in laws house. A few years back, the family decided the adults wouldn’t be giving gifts any more: kid’s are grown, and I guess they felt it wasn’t needed- which bums me out, because I plan all year, so now I’m just tucking those things away for another purpose. We tossed around the idea of drawing names, but it’s just 4 of us, and sometimes, just 3… Well regardless, I have gifts and I’m giving them, even if they do not. It’s just my thing, I guess.

My girls are pretty easy to shop for, I know what they are into, and for the most part, they are easy to please. This year, my oldest girls aren’t around, so even though I have things in the close, I won’t be wrapping them, but that’s another story for another day…Hubby can be a tad tricky. One year I got him every Simpson’s dvd I could find, and another year I made him a jean quilt, because he’d been talking about one he had as a child. He says his favorite is the Sherpa line jean jacked I got him a couple years ago. ( I think its the jean quilt) This year, I am struggling hard, I got some things he will use, and even though I still feel like I’m not hitting the mark, he never complains… ❤

Speaking of shopping, I better get back to the deal blog, because I have deals to post, and I’ve already started shopping for next year! Too early? well then you apparently haven’t been following my blog.

and here’s that article, it’s a really cute read.
